You Are Chosen to Bear Lasting Fruit
You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. John 15:16
Have you ever wondered why God has placed you where you are in life, or why you’re going through the things you’re facing? In John 15:16, Jesus reminds us of a beautiful truth: “I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit.” Isn’t that a wonderful feeling, to know that you and I have been chosen by God. We are not here by accident or mere chance. God, in His love and wisdom, has called us into His service, and He has appointed us with a purpose—to bear fruit that will last.
This verse speaks of more than just surface-level accomplishments or fleeting successes. The fruit we are called to bear is the fruit of righteousness, love, kindness, and faithfulness—things that honor God and reflect His nature in this world. And not only is the fruit meant to grow, but it is to remain—to have lasting impact and eternal significance.
Jesus’ words are a reminder that our purpose is tied to Him. It’s not about what we can achieve on our own, but what He will do through us. He has given us His Holy Spirit to empower us, and through Him, our lives are meant to reflect God’s glory in everything we do. As we stay connected to Jesus, the true vine, our lives will produce lasting fruit that aligns with His will.
The verse also holds a promise that is tied to this connection: “that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” This is not a blank check for anything we desire, but a promise that when we are aligned with God’s purpose and are seeking to bear fruit that reflects His heart, He will give us what we need to fulfill that purpose. When we ask according to His will, in the name of Jesus, we can trust that He will provide what is necessary for us to carry out the mission He has entrusted to us.
Today, let this truth settle in your heart: You are chosen. You are appointed by God to bear fruit that remains, and as you seek His will, He will give you everything you need to accomplish His purposes through your life.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, thank You for choosing me and appointing me with a purpose. Help me to bear fruit that honors You and has lasting impact. I ask that You continue to equip me with everything I need to fulfill Your will in my life. May Your name be glorified in all I do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
