Whom Do You Trust?
Then the Assyrian king’s chief of staff told them to give this message to Hezekiah: “This is what the great king of Assyria says: What are you trusting in that makes you so confident? 2 Kings 18:19
In 2 Kings 18 you will find a very interesting verse. Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, is threatening Hezekiah and challenging him about his dependence on God, ‘What are you trusting in that makes you so confident?’ (2 Kings 18:19). It forced me to think about where I place my trust and what makes me confidence in during this troubled time.
Just turn on the television and you will find an expert in the field sharing the latest dos and don’ts of COVID-19. We are being given lots of sound and sensible advice which we are following, but when “the rubber hits the road”, in what or in whom are we placing our confidence? Are we basing our faith on the advice of governments, medics or some other alternative?
As you continue to pray and seek God during this time, I’d like to remind you of the words in Psalms 46 saying, “Be still and know that I am God”. He who created the earth and made each one of us knows the design plan of our being. He knows and is not surprised by all the evil, all the illness in the world. The challenge is do we trust that He will be with us in the storm and even rescue or heal our land?
It isn’t easy in these times of fear and anxiety but God, our Father, Jesus, our brother, and Holy Spirit, our comforter, are with us and will help us in our struggles.
Prayer for today: Almighty Father God, we choose to lean on You. You are our rock. Help us to do what is right and follow the good advice, but we acknowledge You are the one who saves and heals. Come with power and heal our land, Amen.
