Who Do You Call on for the Battle?
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. Psalm 20:7
There’s a funny video circulating on social media where parents tell their young child that another kid is trying to fight them, and they need their help to fight. The reactions are priceless. Some kids walk boldly toward the door, ready to face the battle head-on, while others burst into tears, unwilling to step up to the challenge. It’s a humorous moment, but it got me thinking about the words written in Psalm 20:7. When you’re facing a difficult time, who do you call on? Are you calling on the right person for the battle?
Just like the child in the video, when faced with a challenge, we can either boldly march forward or hesitate, depending on who we trust for strength. Chariots and horses were the powerful tools of war in David’s time, but he knew that even the mightiest forces couldn’t compare to the strength and deliverance found in God’s name. Today, we’re called to do the same. When we face struggles, let us call on the One who holds all power, who is faithful to fight for us in ways we can’t even begin to understand.
Prayer for today: Lord, thank You for reminding me that my strength comes not from the world around me but from You alone. When the battles of life come, help me to turn to You first. Teach me to trust in Your power and Your name, knowing You are always with me. Amen
