When the earth quakes
When the earth quakes and its people live in turmoil, I am the one who keeps its foundations firm. Psalm 75:3
It is during days like today, we, as Christians, can take encouragement from verses like the one written in Psalm 75 and also from the fact that, by His Spirit, we have Jesus with us day by day. Before He went back to heaven He said, “… And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). What a promise and word of assurance from the Lord himself to help us through the darkest of times!
Each day God’s Word continues to be a solid foundation even when the earth quakes. It is always good to remind ourselves of Bible truths which are sure and certain and can help us re-adjust our spiritual compass and focus on things from a different perspective, God’s perspective. Here is a reminder of a few to get your list started:
‘The Lord is my shepherd, I will not be in need. He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for the sake of His name. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows. Certainly goodness and faithfulness will follow me all the days of my life, and my dwelling will be in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23).
‘May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant’ (Psalm 119:76).
‘I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world’ (John 16:33).
As we take these verses, and repeat them over and over, may your relationship with Jesus be enriched, your faith deepened and our hope renewed.
Prayer for today: Loving God thank You that You do not change. You are the same yesterday, today and forever more. Help me to meet the challenges of an uncertain future here on earth by leaning on Your everlasting arms. Amen.
