When It Looks Like It’s Over
As Pharaoh approached, the people of Israel looked up and panicked when they saw the Egyptians overtaking them. They cried out to the Lord. Exodus 14:10
The children of Israel, freshly delivered from slavery in Egypt, were caught between the wilderness and the Red Sea. Behind them, Pharaoh’s army was closing in, and in front of them, an impassable body of water stretched out before them. The people were terrified. Fear gripped their hearts, and they began to doubt the very God who had just brought them out of Egypt. In their panic, they asked, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die?” but what they didn’t see is that God was about to open up a way in the middle of no way, and offer them a supernatural way out.
Sometimes we need to pause, take a breath, and allow God to move. Stand still and remember that He is fighting for you. Your peace and rest come from knowing He is in control.
This moment is one of despair. It looks as though all hope is lost. Yet, even in the face of hopelessness, God was already at work. Through Moses, God delivered a message to His people: “Do not be afraid. Stand firm, and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.”
God made a way where there was no way. He parted the Red Sea, creating a dry path for the Israelites to walk through on their journey to freedom. Not only did God open the sea, but He also provided protection, guidance, and victory over their enemies.
Today I invite you to look beyond the walls. When you feel stuck — like you’ve reached the Red Sea in your life, don’t give in to despair. Know that God has already planned your way through it. Trust Him, even when you cannot see how it will happen.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, thank You for the reminder that even when it looks like there’s no way out, You are the God who makes a way. Just like You parted the Red Sea for the Israelites, You are always ready to make a way for us. Amen.
