What happens next?
He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee. Luke 24:6, NLT
Three days later everything changes. The tomb is empty. Death is defeated. Hope is alive. But then comes the quiet, often overlooked question: What happens now? What do we do now that our Savior is risen?
For the disciples, Jesus’s resurrection wasn’t the end of the story, it was the beginning of a confusing, awe-filled, world-shifting new reality. Resurrection requires response. “What happens now?” is the same question we face today. It means:
We don’t stay in the grave clothes of our past.
We don’t live as if hope is still buried.
We don’t hold back from the life we’ve been given.
Instead, we are invited to:
Believe again, even when it’s hard.
Follow forward, even without all the answers.
Share boldly, because the story isn’t finished.
The resurrection is not the conclusion. It’s the commission as written in Matthew 28:18–20, where Jesus says “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them… and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Jesus didn’t rise so we could simply look back, He rose so we could move forward.
Prayer for today: Lord, thank You for the victory of His Resurrection. Thank You that the story didn’t end at the cross. As I step into this new day, help me not just to celebrate the resurrection, but to live in its power. Show me what “now” looks like in my life. Give me courage to follow You fully. Amen.
