Weariness
Come unto me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
In the midst of our weariness, there is a gentle invitation from the Savior Himself: “Come unto me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” – Matthew 11:28. These words, spoken by Jesus, carry with them a promise of solace and relief. They remind us that we don’t have to carry our burdens alone, that there is a source of rest and renewal available to us, no matter how exhausted we may feel.
When life overwhelms us and we’re tempted to soldier on in our own strength, Jesus invites us to pause, to come to Him with our cares and concerns, and to find rest for our souls.
What does it mean to come to Jesus in our weariness? It means laying down our burdens at His feet, surrendering our worries and anxieties, and trusting Him to carry us through. It means taking time to seek His presence, to find refuge in His love, and to allow His peace to fill our hearts.
Jesus doesn’t promise to remove all our challenges or make life free from struggle, but He does promise to walk beside us every step of the way, offering His strength, His comfort, and His peace.
As we come to Jesus in our weariness, let us open our hearts to receive the rest He offers. Let us cast our cares upon Him, knowing that He cares for us deeply and tenderly. And let us find solace in His presence, knowing that in Him, we can find true rest for our souls.
Prayer for today: God, I need You. Today, I lay down my cares and concerns at Your feet, trusting You to give me rest for the souls. Fill us with Your peace, renew our strength, and help us to find refuge in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, amen.
