Unstuck
He pulled me out of a horrible pit, out of the mud and clay. Psalm 40:2
Do you know that God will use just about anything to get your attention, so He can get a message across to you sometimes? Recently a story headline caught my eye- “He Pulled It from the Mud,” it read in bold letters. Mudding is a sport in which a vehicle is deliberately and purposefully driven through the mud. And even though it’s a sport, sometimes the car gets stuck in this filthy place. To get unstuck your vehicle is pulled out using another truck. Immediately I thought this is sometimes the way we live our lives. Often we run our lives into the mud and dirt of this world, and then when we are stuck we sit spinning our wheels in the mess (dirt, mud, and water) until someone comes along and helps us out. Sounds crazy, doesn’t it?
If you feel like you are stuck spiritually and are just spinning your wheels, then I would like to suggest that you take a few moments to ask yourself some self-examination questions. Socrates said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” King David said it like this “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” – Psalm 139:23–24 (NLT)
My hope is that, if you are spiritually stuck in your life right now, you will take the time to talk with God and allow Him to heal you from the inside out.
Prayer for today: Father, thank You for Your unchanging nature and character. Please show me that I can make it through all with You by my side. Help me to remain steadfast in this season and work with You to get to the next. I ask You to reshape me, so my life is fruitful for Your kingdom’s sake. Amen
