Unfailing Faith
But Daniel was determined not to defile himself by eating the food and wine given to them by the king. He asked the chief of staff for permission not to eat these unacceptable foods. Daniel 1:8
Throughout their exile, Daniel and his friends demonstrated unwavering faith. They held onto their beliefs, even in a foreign land. They trusted God’s sovereignty even when they couldn’t see the entire picture and with this unfailing faith they were able to experience God’s diving guidance and favor.
The exile experience begins with recognizing the reality of our displacement. For Daniel and his companions, this meant acknowledging their distance from their homeland and the temple of God. Yes this was their reality but it did not change who God is.
In our lives, exile may manifest as a feeling of being distanced from God due to circumstances or challenges. As Daniel and his friends remained faithful to God, they received divine guidance and favor. Their commitment to prayer and obedience to God led to remarkable wisdom and insight. They received strength during their time of exile as they prayed and trusted in God.
Life’s disruptions are often part of His greater plan. As we trust Him and maintain our faith, He grants us wisdom and guidance in the midst of adversity. Just as Daniel and his friends returned to their homeland, God’s perfect timing will lead us out of our personal exiles.
