Through You, God Delivers
But when the children of Israel cried out to the Lord, the Lord raised up a deliverer for them: Ehud the son of Gera, the Benjamite, a left-handed man. Judges 3:15
In today’s verse, the author did not leave out the fact that Ehud was left-handed. So why was it important to mention the left-handed? The word of God mentions the left handeness because that is what enabled Ehud to kill the King. Ehud a left-handed soldier was not searched properly and God used this disadvantage to gain the advantage. Ehud and maybe others around him could have seen this as negative. But, this disadvantage led to the advantage. With Ehud, God raises up a ‘left-handed’ (Judges 3:15) deliverer.
Normally a right-handed person wears his sword on his life side because it is easier to draw the sword from the opposite side. The guards assumed Ehud was right-handed and therefore only checked one side. God used the low to bring about the high. God will use your inabilities and disabilities to destroy the enemy.
You may not have had the best start in life, although God never sees you as an accident maybe your parents used that word in describing your birth, you may have been overlooked and not cared for or nurtured as God intended. Even as you are reading this now, may feel neglected and badly downtrodden on life’s journey. But there is no mistake that God cannot use where you are today to bring about a victory!
This is at the heart of God. He uses the outcast to do something extraordinary. Be encouraged God chooses the lowly things and the despised things to shine for Him, to bring light into the darkness of this world, to bring His message of hope to the hopeless, and freedom and abundant life to the lifeless.
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, thank You for seeing the best in me when all I can see is nothing. Help me to see me, the way that You see me so that I am encouraged on this journey. Holy Spirit guides me in the path that I should take. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
