Things Above

Things Above
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Colossians 3:1
Today’s Colossians 3 explores what it means to set your mind on things above, enabling us to experience the true joy the Father wants to lavish on us. What better way to start off this new month than by seeking those things which are above. When we set our eyes on Him, we are better able to serve him—and service is ultimately the duty and pleasure of every believer.
The world has a way of getting us down. It fills us with distractions, temptation, and entertainment, promising us happiness but this is all temporary and never fully delivering.
Perhaps today you are feeling heavy, overwhelmed by all that is happening around you and in this world. I invite you to join me in fixing your eyes no on the things below, but to look up. When we focus on these earthly things our eyes slip from the “things above.” We forget the blessings and promises we have through our adoption as sons and daughters of Jesus, our peace slowly slips away. Instead we are called to lay down the things that hinder us and through the power of the Holy Spirit step into our new life as Christians.
