The Sun Rise
The sun rises at one end of the heavens and follows its course to the other end. Nothing can hide from its heat. Psalm 19:6
Imagine David standing on Mount Zion early in the morning, the sky clear and quiet. As the first light breaks over the Jordan Valley, he looks up and sees the sun begin its course. In that moment, surrounded by the beauty and stillness of creation, he hears the silent symphony of God’s glory being declared.
The Spirit of God stirs in David’s heart, and he’s moved to describe what he sees—not just with his eyes, but with his soul. In verse 5, he writes: “It comes forth like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and like a strong man runs his course with joy.”
The sun bursts onto the scene like a joyful groom, full of energy and expectation. It moves across the sky like a powerful runner, steady and unstoppable, rejoicing in its race. And, as David observes, “nothing can hide from its heat.” It touches everything.
In the same way, God’s presence is faithful, joyful, and all-encompassing. Just as the sun gives warmth and life to the earth, God brings light and purpose to our lives. His glory doesn’t just appear—it rejoices and runs with delight. And it reaches everyone, everywhere.
This morning, pause to watch the sunrise or simply feel the warmth of the sun. Let it remind you of God’s steady presence and the joy that comes from living in His light.
Prayer for today: Faithful and joyful God, thank You for the sun that rises each day and for the way it reflects Your glory. Just as nothing is hidden from its warmth, may nothing in me be hidden from You. Fill me with Your joy and help me to live each day with purpose, running the race You’ve set before me. Amen.
