The Peace of God Day 14
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1
Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:17-21
God, in His infinite mercy, has given us everything we need for life and godliness—even though we deserved nothing. His grace toward us compels us to live in a way that reflects His heart. This means choosing actions and attitudes that are amiable (lovable and kind) and creditable (worthy of praise and honor).
Paul’s instructions in Romans 12 remind us to go above and beyond in our relationships, especially when faced with challenges or conflict. Repaying evil with evil only perpetuates harm, but choosing good reflects God’s love and transforms hearts.
Living Out Peace Intentionally, what does this look like?
Choose Forgiveness Over Retaliation: When wronged, resist the urge to seek revenge. Instead, trust God to bring justice in His perfect way and time.
Pursue Peace Actively: Peace requires effort, and sometimes, we must be the first to extend kindness or resolve a disagreement.
Do Good to All, Even Enemies: By serving those who oppose us, we demonstrate the transformative power of Christ’s love. This kind of response often softens hearts and opens the door for reconciliation.
📍ACTION
Are there areas in your life where you’ve been holding onto bitterness or resentment? How can you release these feelings to God and choose actions that promote peace and goodwill?
Evening Thought (8 PM Theme):
“Our merciful God will never remove His peace” — Isaiah 54:10
God’s grace compels us to live honorably and pursue peace in every interaction. End your week resting in the promise that God’s peace is eternal and unshakable.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me peace and grace when I least deserved it. Help me to reflect Your love by doing what is kind and honorable in all my relationships. Teach me to overcome evil with good and to pursue peace, even when it is difficult. May my actions bring glory to You and draw others closer to Your heart. Amen.
