The Lord’s Touch
Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately the leprosy left him. Luke 5:13
It’s heart-warming to see how a baby responds to its mother’s loving touch, which psychologists have shown is vital to the normal development and emotional well-being of the child. Now if a baby needs the physical touch to develop how much more so do we need the spiritual touch to develop? As children of God we desperately need God’s loving touch to help us through life’s journey.
When the Lord touches us His touches are often healing. In the New Testament He brought joy to the blind, who went away seeing, to the deaf, who went away hearing, and to those who had demons, who were instantly freed from the bondages of the enemy. For the lepers, the untouchables of the day, the Scripture records of Jesus ‘And he put forth his hand and touched him, saying “I will, be thou clean”’. (Luke 5:12-13).
So today, whatever your need is, just knowing a touch from Jesus makes all the difference. Just one touch unlocks the prison doors, brings healing, strength and encouragement. What a joy to know He’s only a prayer away!
Prayer for today: Dear God, We need You so much, and ask that You would touch each one of us and meet us at our point of need. Thank You, Lord, that You’re never too busy, and that You answer even before we call, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
