The Life Giver
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11
The Holy Spirit is the Life-Giver. He is the One who regenerates our spirits when we are born again. He is God’s breath of life within us. And He is the One who brings life to dead things. Job 33:4 says, ‘It is the breath of the Almighty that gives me life’. It reminds me of a very interesting account that we read of in 2 Kings 13:21. ‘Once while some Israelites were burying a man, suddenly they saw a band of raiders; so they threw the man’s body into Elisha’s tomb. When the body touched Elisha’s bones, the man came to life and stood up on his feet’. The anointing of the Holy Spirit that seemed to remain within the bones of this prophet was so powerful that it raised that dead body to life!)
The point here is the same one shared with you yesterday. The same power lives within us today and gives us life. Paul says in Philippians 3:10 ‘I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection’. Indeed, without recognizing the power of the Holy Spirit, who raised Jesus from the dead, we struggle and limp along life’s pathway, often downcast instead of full of hope, peace as the Spirit promises.
The resurrection power of the Holy Spirit – the SAME power that raised Jesus from the dead – makes it possible for us to live this supernatural, Spirit-centered life! Jesus died to reconcile us back to the Father, but through His Resurrection He enabled us, His disciples, to ‘do even greater things than these, because I (Jesus) am going to the Father’ (John 14:12).
Let’s be encouraged to live and walk in the resurrection power of the risen Christ!
Prayer for today: Lord and Savior, what a privilege it is to be able to walk each day in Your Resurrection Power! Thank You for reconciling us back to Father God, and for giving us Your Holy Spirit to guide us and counsel us and cause us to do great exploits for Your Kingdom, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
