The Lamb of God
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29
No In today’s Scripture reading, John tells us about a meeting between John the Baptist and Jesus. John the Baptist was the forerunner of Christ. He went forth and announced that Jesus the Savior of the world is coming.
Jesus is the Lamb sent by God to take away all sins. The name we call Him, “the Lamb of God”, offers us liberty. We no longer have to live in anxiety, wondering about trying to justify our very existence. No! Our justification is in Christ, the perfect spotless Lamb of God who took away our sins and the sins of the world. For the Lamb has overcome.
Christ, the Lamb of God, takes away our sins and makes it possible for us to work in the kingdom of God. His spirit raises us to the fullness of new life. We no longer have to labor for salvation, instead we find rest knowing our identity is in the Lamb of God.
Prayer for today: Loving Father, I thank You for the spotless Lamb of God who is without blemish or defect. Deserved to die, but He took my place instead. I am now washed clean with Your sinless blood and now I am whiter than snow, created in Christ Jesus for good works. I am forever grateful for the blessing of having our sins forgiven. Amen.
