The Greatest Gift, Part II
For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Christmas is a time when we can celebrate His birth and all that He did for us. Let’s take a look at a few of these great gifts.
One of the gifts is eternal life. We can receive this gift when we accept the Lord Jesus into our hearts and by giving our lives to Him. It’s completely free. Romans 6:23 reminds us ‘The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life’.
Another gift is the gift of grace. Death was our sentence, but thanks be to God for the birth of His Son we now have access to life. ‘For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by His grace as a gift, through redemption that is in Christ Jesus’ (Romans 3:23-24).
We also receive the gift of righteousness. ‘For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ’ (Romans 5:17).
Today I only shared with you three gifts, which represents the three wise men who came to see Mary’s boy. However, those are just three gifts that I have received and am eternally grateful for. But there are plenty more gifts that the Father gives us. I encourage you in your personal devotional time to have a look in His word. Maybe this Christmas you want to accept the gifts that He has given, and to become His child. His gifts are free and are waiting for you to receive them.
