The Engine Room – Seek God
The one thing I ask of the Lord—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple. Psalm 27:4
Nothing delights God more than when we seek His face. Imagine being drawn into the presence of the Lord, recognizing that He is the King of Glory and giving Him glory for all things. Imagine being drawn into the presence of the Lord, recognizing that He is the King of Glory and giving Him glory for all things. God deserves all praise just because He is God alone. Acknowledge God and give Him glory for what He is doing in your life. Bless Him and be thankful.
King David knew there had to be more to knowing God. He sensed there was something about the Lord that he had not understood, and he would not rest until he found it. David expressed his deep longing in Psalm 27:4: “The one thing I ask of the Lord—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple.” David desired an uninterrupted communion with God, a life that was a living prayer, knowing that only such intimacy with the Lord would see him through the rest of his days.
Now is the time to know the King of Glory for yourself. The creator of the heavens and earth wants to talk to you, yes, to YOU! God Almighty wants you to come into His presence and have an intimate conversation with Him. Just as you would talk to a friend, you can talk to God. He is calling you to fellowship; He is calling you to intimacy. Intimacy with God begins when we radically pursue Him with our whole heart. May we pledge to God from this day forward to seek His face forevermore, where in His presence, we magnify His name and find joy in Him.
Today let David’s example inspire you to seek the Lord with all your heart, finding joy and delight in His presence.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, we thank You for the privilege of seeking Your face and coming into Your presence. Like David, we desire to dwell in Your house, delighting in Your beauty and meditating on Your word. Help us to pursue You with our whole hearts, experiencing the intimacy and fellowship You offer. May our lives be a living prayer, bringing glory to Your name and joy to our souls. Amen.
