Tell of His Goodness
Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples! Psalm 105:1
Psalm 105 is a celebratory song. It celebrates God’s faithful works done on behalf of His people in the Pentateuch. The Psalmist calls on people to praise God, tell others of His goodness. From the beginning to the end of Scripture, we see people created by God to call upon his name. Even just this is so basic, but it’s so awesome. You and I were created for a relationship with God where He speaks to us, we speak to Him and then we share with others His goodness.
The Psalmist goes on to say “make known His deeds”. In the midst of so much uncertainty, pandemic and fear it is important that we direct others to God. During these times who is keeping you? What keeps your life focused and why haven’t you lost your mind? It is none other than our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Giving thanks isn’t trying to repay the Lord for what He has given to us. It is simply an expression of our gratitude to the kindness of the Lord. And in this, God is glorified. It is God who we depend on. It is God who keeps us and we just cannot remain silent about it. In fact we are called ambassadors of Christ for this very reason, so that others may know Him and the power of His resurrection.
Today, I encourage you to tell someone of His goodness. We serve the God who keeps His word and has a plan that we get to be a part of each and every day. Today is a great day to bow your head, give thanks, and then share this good news with someone else. Let today be your day to rise up and proclaim God’s plan to everyone. God always chooses to use individuals to carry out His plan. Let you be one! Make His deeds and His name known!
Prayer for today: Dear God, today we pause to give You thanks. We give you thanks for every good thing in our lives. There is nothing good in us, around us, which did not come from you. I acknowledge Your hand in my life and Your presence as a strong tower. I am only who I am today because of You. Thank you for Your love, mercy and grace towards me. Amen.
