Teach Me
Teach me your ways, O Lord; make them known to me. Psalm 25:4
David calls on God to show him His ways in Psalm 25:4. While we can’t be certain about David’s circumstances when he wrote Psalm 25, we do know that whatever the circumstances David leaned into God. David understood that wisdom comes from God. So if you have a heart that yearns to know God more and it is a hungry and teachable heart, then God can teach you His ways and guide you into His unique plans for your life.
To put this another way, let’s look at a ship sailing in the vast ocean. The safe passage of a ship not only depends on the navigation system who plots the course through the seas, but also on the captain and crew who are responsible for acting on the information received from the navigation. Obedience to these instructions is vital to the safety of the vessel and reaching its destination. Similarly, we ask God to teach us His ways so that as we journey through this land we know how to go.
On this journey, we cannot allow anyone other than the Lord to be the navigator who shows us the direction we need to go. And we cannot allow anyone else to take control of our lives and take us to places God never intended for us. If you are not being led by God you will end up in a shipwreck.
Learning to always trust Him and to always be obedient to His directions is the ultimate key to having the blessing of God on each and every area of our lives.
Prayer for today: Lord, I want to walk in Your ways and in Your truth. I want to dwell in Your presence all of the time. Show me your ways Lord, and guide me. Let Your favor and Your hand be evident in my life! Let Your joy and Your peace continually overflow in my life! Let Your perfect will be done in my life, to the glory of Your name. Amen
