Stay alert
Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8
In Daniel 3, King Nebuchadnezzar set up a statue and told all the people they had to bow down and worship it whenever the music was played. Everyone in the area obeyed except for these 3 men – Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. But it was not by accident. In fact, these boys were hated on and the enemy seeing their potential set up to destroy them. I could almost hear the boys saying, not today Satan. Like Job, the enemy sees your potential and is trying everything in his power to get you distracted. Because he is fighting against Gods people it is important that we stand up, stand on Christ Jesus and encourage ourselves in the Words of God.
1 Peter 5:8 cautions the believer to ‘stay alert’. Watch out! For the enemy is on the prowl. When you are facing your trails and call on God, He will answer you. Don’t believe for a moment that He has forgotten you. Tell your enemy that God is able to deliver you. Don’t give up, just hold on. Sometimes, demonstrating faith in the face of fire can lead to greater things. Let us not overlook the importance of every fire. God doesn’t have to take you out of the situation. He can keep you in the situation as He did with the three Hebrew boys and make your test a testimony for what the Lord is able to do. God is able – these are the words of faith!
Prayer for today: Loving and all-knowing Father, today I remind myself that you are able. You are the same yesterday, today and forever more. You can and will do anything that needs to be done in my life. All I need to do is submit myself over to Your will. O Lord, hear us, because we’re called by Your name, and You said You’d build Your Church, and the gates of hell would not prevail against it. Please come and set us free from deception and compromise in Jesus’ name, Amen.
