Stability In The Eye
God is my shield, saving those who are true and right. Psalm 7:10
The eye of the storm represents a calm region at the center of a storm. A sailor is trained to find the ‘eye’ and take refuge until the sea becomes calm.
What do we do and how do we react when the whirlwind and the storm rises up? Our temptation, when we experience a storms of life, is to think we are drowning. Life brings with it many such events and as Christians we are not exempt from rough seas. We experience them in our relationships, our health, our workplace, and our churches and in our communities, as well as in the lives of those around us.
Regardless of where you are facing it today, the safest place in any storm is in the ‘eye’ – the place in the center where peace reigns. This is the place of refuge that the Lord offers to us for protection. He is the ‘eye’ of the storm wrapping us up in His protecting arms.
Amid all that is going on around us and in the world, may you find strength being centered by God. The challenge for us is not to fight out way through but to find God within and stay still in this place of trust and safety. God is on the throne. He is in control and more than this, He is on the move and fulfilling His purposes.
Prayer for today: Father, I know that You are in control and within You I can find safety. Lord, I take up my position with You in the storms of life. I join with my brothers and sisters in Christ in holding on to you and watching You have your way in my life. Amen.
