Speaking from the heart
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good. Luke 6:45
I have to admit it, if I hear someone teaching about enduring hardship I could care less about the lesson and with eagerness listen as they share their own personal experience. Tell me the story of how the Lord helped you to overcome the suffering. I crave these stories from the heart. It helps me to know that, however good a speaker they are, they’re not just speaking from head knowledge, but have experienced the truth they are teaching and are now speaking from the heart.
Jesus truly is the One who understands our every weakness and problem perfectly, because He has experienced fully what it is to be human and live in our broken world. He never sinned, but He knows what it is like to be rejected, misunderstood, judged, mocked and ultimately to die as an innocent sacrifice in the place of us all on the cross.
When the enemy tries to insert lies and make me feel as if I am alone, I recall the stories of those who have overcome and begin to give God thanks for their victory, knowing that if God can do it for them He certainly can do it for you and me.
Prayer for today: Dear Lord, I choose to no longer hide my wounds in shame. As I come to You to be healed, may any scars that remain in my life from those wounds testify to others of Your grace, which also reaches out to them. Amen.
