Son of God
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. Daniel 3:16
It is comforting to read, in the days of zero political tolerance, the experiences of four young men in the book of Daniel and how they stood up for faith even though their life was at stake.
Daniel and his three friends, who became known as Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, had been taken away as captives from their own country to live in Babylon. Here they were faced with being uprooted from their home and everything that was familiar to them. They had to live in a foreign country and learn a new language and become familiar with different customs and culture. Even though the king stripped them of everything they still did not compromise their faith.
Their faith was strong and their bond with one another and with God so unassailable, that the three young Hebrews didn’t back down when confronted. They told Nebuchadnezzar, who was enraged by their actions: “Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods” (Daniel 3:16-18).
During uncertain times take courage that the Son of God will be with you during the fire. He has all power to and will deliver you! “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” Daniel 3:25
