Solid Trust
I will thank You forever, because You have done it. I will wait for Your Name, for it is good, in the presence of the godly. Psalm 52:9
Allowing God to be your guide begins with a commitment to trust. God cannot lead you where you will not follow. We must grow our desire for God’s instruction and guidance. In today’s Scripture David wrote about his deep trust in the Lord. He praised God for the things He had done that proved that He is worthy. David trusted in the Lord because he experienced the meaning of trust through his relationship with the Lord.
If you let him, God will guide you in and out of every circumstance by tugging on your spirit and speaking to your heart. With God in charge of your life you will be perfectly led. He’s given you all you will ever need to go through life with him as your guide. You just have to trust him to lead you better than you can lead yourself.
Trust builds over time and relies mostly on experiences shared rather than words said. Just think about it, is there someone in your life you trust? If so, how did you come to trust that person? Did it happen on day one? No, the trust you have in each other has been developing over time through life experiences. You spend hours together, share experiences, and secrets. That person has come through for you on a number of occasions and so you begin to trust them.
Similar to this relationship, trust in God happens the same way. The day you gave your life to Him, you started to trust in Him. Through reading the Bible you grow and you let go of even more. Little by little you begin to open up to this person and over time you discover that God is reliable.
When you place your trust in God, He takes you into His arms and assures you that everything is going to be alright.
Life will let you down, people will break promises, but one thing remains constant, one thing you can trust in life, and that is you will always be safe in His arms.
