Soaring High
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grown weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
The word ‘hope’ is found over 150 times in the Bible. Some references referred to the loss of hope and how debilitating that was, whereas others focused on the strengthening power of hope, as in today’s scripture. According to Isaiah 40:31, hope in God results in renewal of strength and causes us to soar on wings like an eagle. This is an amazing picture. When you consider how an eagle flies. Eagles don’t flap their wings madly trying to stay airborne but rather soar to amazing heights, often high above stormy weather because they were built to fly.
This is what God wants for each of His children – that we soar high, unbothered. But it can only happen when our hope is focused on God. When our strength comes from the indwelling of the Holy Spirit it is only then we have the strength to soar high above the noise. After all, He is the God of all hope, and when we place our hope in Him, we will not be disappointed.
