So Much More
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine …to Him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 3:20
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary the word immeasurable means ‘incapable of being measured’. That’s our God. There are no limits to what He can do because it cannot be measured. Even if we tried to put God into a box, He wouldn’t fit because our God cannot be measured. God works immeasurably, infinitely, vastly, extraordinary more than what we request or envision.
Often in life we celebrate little answers to prayers, as we should, but God has so much more to offer than a little answer. I get angry with myself when I pray to God for a gallon of milk when I know that He is able to so much more than that if I only ask Him. I mean is He a God of just milk or do we serve a God that can fill the fridge with food and keep it filled. Of course I am only using this as an example, but I could easily refer to the many times God has done above all than I even asked or think. This makes me wonder ‘Are we limiting God by the size of our expectations?’
If so, we should not. God can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is within us. If we planned or asked for a bigger harvest maybe it would actually happen.
Isaiah 65:24 says “I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers. I know there are so many factors at work when we think about answered prayers, but perhaps asking for more would produce more if we only ask for more?
God has the power to achieve great things so let’s not restrict our prayers to what we can see happening in the natural. Trust in God as you pray and trust that He can do it.
If our prayers are restricted we will only receive the fruit of a small prayer. But if you believe in God to do immeasurably above what you ask. Then you better be ready for the move of God
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father forgive me for being small minded. I believe that You are the Almighty God, All Powerful, and Sovereign God. Help me to match my prayers to my expectation of who you are and not to what makes sense to me in the flesh but on what I know of who You are in the Spirit. Amen
