Slow Down
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
Meditation teaches you to slow down, take deeper breaths and listen to your heart beat. There are moments in life when we become aware of our own heartbeat. Whether it races with fear, seems quiet in grief or irregular with anger, our natural reaction is usually to do whatever we can to bring it back to a steady rhythm. That’s because God placed a deep desire within us to be at peace. Today, I invite you to slow down. Do not become anxious, instead breathe out fear and take in peace.
God’s peace transcends, it goes beyond the range or limits of human understanding to provide us with peace. The biblical view of peace is presence of God, and He brings fullness, wholeness, completeness and rest.
This was our Saviors response. Throughout the New Testament we find Jesus’ first response was always to go to His Father in prayer. Jesus knew that complete security and peace is found in God’s presence. The same is true for us. When we face trials and tribulations, prayer protects the position of our hearts and keeps our mind focus on God. How wonderful that, despite the troubles of this world, we can let His peace rule in our hearts and minds!
