Sleep is a Gift
Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. Psalm 30:5
Nighttime often represents seasons of weariness, sorrow, or uncertainty. It is in the night that worries feel heavier and emotions seem louder. Yet God promises that the night does not have the final word. Morning brings renewal, clarity, and joy not because circumstances always change, but because God remains faithful.
Sleep is one of God’s quiet gifts to us. While we rest, He rebuilds our bodies, refreshes our minds, and restores our strength. In surrendering the night to Him, we allow healing to take place. When morning comes, we awaken and are reminded that everything will be alright not because life is perfect, but because God is present. Scripture affirms this truth:
“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” — Psalm 4:8
Each new morning is evidence that God carried us through the night. Joy does not always mean instant happiness; sometimes it is the steady assurance that we are still standing, still breathing, and still held by God. Morning joy is the quiet confidence that God’s mercies are new and His grace is sufficient for the day ahead.
If last night was heavy, take heart. God specializes in turning nights of weeping into mornings of hope. Rise today expecting renewal, trusting that the same God who watched over you through the night will walk with you through this day.
Prayer for today: Father God, thank You for carrying me through the night and for the gift of rest. Thank You for rebuilding my body, renewing my strength, and giving me another morning. If I went to bed with heaviness, I receive Your joy today. Help me walk in peace, trusting that You are in control and that all will be well. I welcome this new day with gratitude and hope in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
