Say Yes
He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 1 John 5:12
There was a man in the Bible named Nicodemus who asked Jesus, “What is this new birth I keep hearing about? What does it mean to be born again? How can a person enter their mother’s womb a second time?” Jesus answered him by explaining that being born again means that your spirit is reborn and made alive. Romans 10:9-10 tells us that we are born again when we say “yes” to Jesus.
Saying “yes” to Jesus means believing in your heart that Jesus was raised from the dead and confessing that He is your Lord and Savior. When you say “yes” to Jesus and surrender your life to Him, you immediately become alive in your spirit. When you receive His forgiveness, you are cleansed of all sin and all unrighteousness. God’s Holy Spirit makes His home inside of you, and you are made new! It’s as if He takes the DNA of a sinner out of you and puts the DNA of a saint in its place. You’re not programmed to sin anymore; in fact, it becomes difficult to live the same old way because there is a new hunger for God on the inside of you. First John 5:12 says that, “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life” (NIV). And the life that Jesus gives is eternal and abundant, filled with everlasting joy and peace!
Saying “yes” to Jesus isn’t a one-time thing. It begins with salvation; however, we have to wake up every morning and choose to say “yes” to Him in our minds, in our attitudes, and in our actions. We have to say “yes” to obeying His Word and choosing to embrace His precious promises by faith. In the same way you exercise and feed your body every day in order to grow and be strong, you have to exercise and feed your spirit every day so you can grow and produce the great things that God has deposited on the inside of you!
As you go through today, remind yourself of God’s unconditional love and the new life He offers. Whether it’s your first “yes” to Jesus or your daily commitment, let His love transform you and guide you in all that you do.
Prayer for today: Dear Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God, that You died for my sins and rose again. I ask for Your forgiveness and invite You to be my Lord and Savior. Make me new, cleanse me from all unrighteousness, and help me to live for You. Amen.
