Rest
Now, because of you, Lord, I will lie down in peace and sleep comes at once, for no matter what happens, I will live unafraid! Psalm 4:8
We all know we “need” sleep, right? But the more we learn about our bodies, our brains, longevity, and health — the more important sleep becomes. The human body requires long periods of sleep in order to repair, restore and rejuvenate, to grow muscle, repair tissue, and synthesize hormones. How Much Sleep Do We Really Need? Healthy sleep is critical for everyone, since we all need to retain information and learn skills to thrive in life.
n in rest, for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” In other words, I will lie down and be restored. I will lie down and grow. I will lie down in the presence of the Lord and not fight for He is our peace.
Each day makes demands, offers joys to our spirits. Today take a personal inventory and ask the question – how is the spirit man? Are you feeling heavy with the things of this world? Worried with tomorrow in mind? If you answer yes, then set aside some quiet time to rest in the presence of God.
I share with you this two minute meditation. Throughout your day try this practice. Stop and close your eyes. Become meaningful in counting your breaths from 1-120 and ask the Holy Spirit to help you. He will speak to you in this quiet time and bring you comfort.
