Rescued by Grace, Part II
The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom. 2 Timothy 4:18
Our loving and powerful Father can rescue us from our evil deeds and their negative consequences. Of course, He doesn’t magically remove the natural consequences of our actions, but He does specialize in bringing good out of every situation. As Paul says in Romans 8:28, ‘And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.’
Perhaps because of His immense creativity, even in situations that seem impossible to us, He can find unique ways to turn everything to produce good. In fact, I suspect He gets huge joy out of doing just that! He rescues us from the guilt of sins we have confessed but still struggle to forget, the failures we replay in our minds, the regrets that weigh on our hearts, and the mistakes we find hardest to forgive ourselves for. Our Loving God takes all that seems messy and turns it into something most beautiful!
Prayer for today: Thank You, Lord, that You can (and will) rescue me from every evil deed, whether it was done by someone else and affected me, or whether I did it myself. Thank You that You don’t hold my sins against me, the moment I come to You with a repentant heart, You are right there ready to comfort me. I don’t have to punish myself or rescue myself, but I can look to You for help today. Amen.
