Rebuilding and Extending
In that day, Israel, your cities will be rebuilt, and your borders will be extended. Micah 7:11
When it feels like our cities have crumbled, and our borders have shrunk, where do we turn? We may face personal difficulties that leave us emotionally, mentally, or spiritually wounded. It’s in these moments that we need the assurance of God’s promises, just as the prophet Micah delivered to Israel.
When the prophet Micah wrote these words, the land and the people were in devastation. God had not spared his own beloved people from the consequences of their own sins. Yet, God says there will come a time when the walls shall be rebuilt.
Micah 7:11 speaks of a day of restoration and expansion. For Israel, it was the promise of physical rebuilding and territorial growth. While our challenges may not be the same, the message of hope is universal. It reminds us that, in our times of difficulty and loss, there is a promise of renewal and expansion waiting on the horizon.
The rebuilding process might seem daunting, but it’s an opportunity for God to demonstrate His power. God still loves you even when we make mistakes. And, as in Micah’s day, God looks forward in anticipation to a time of rebuilding once more!
As you face your own “in that day” moments, trust that God is not done with you. He is actively involved in rebuilding the broken, extending your horizons, and writing a beautiful story of restoration. Hold onto His promises, and let your hope in Him be your anchor as you journey through the process.
So if you are praying for someone who’s going through a tough time, or dealing with your own personal devastation, remember, God is a Redeemer. He can and He will reach above and beyond to pull you out. He can see beyond the mess, He has a plan – and if we put our hand afresh into His, then we will soon be able to see what God can already see and discover the plans of God for our lives.
Prayer for today: Thank you Lord that you always have a plan for each one of our lives. Help me to see beyond the circumstances and to trust you so that there will be a new day of building walls. In Jesus’ name, Amen and Amen!
