The Lord says, ‘When Babylonia’s seventy years are over, I will show my concern for you and keep my promise to bring you back home. Jeremiah 29:10
Before Jeremiah 29:11 comes Jeremiah 29:10 and there is where we’ll find the full context of God’s promise: “When Babylonia’s seventy years are over, I will show my concern for you and keep my promise to bring you back home.”
Note, it is only after the 70 years of hardship God promises restoration. It’s a fact; God did say that He has great plans of prosperity for Israel. Plans of hope and a future. But all these plans will come to pass only AFTER seventy years! Seventy years of exile. Seventy years of waiting on the promise. Seventy years of poverty. Seventy years of pain. Seventy years of danger. Seventy years of death. Seventy years of seemingly hopelessness comes before the plans of verse 11 ‘hope and a future.’ Know that God is there! There is nothing too big for the Lord to solve. Is there a problem too big for you to solve? Give it to the Lord, He can handle it!
Today be encouraged as you embark on the seventy year wait. During this time of waiting on the Lord, do not give up. Strap on your shoes and enjoy the journey. In the midst of all things uncertain rest assured that God still has a plan. He who began the good work in you will be faithful to complete it until the day of Christ return.
Prayer for today: Thank you God for watching over me. Today the flesh nature may not feel as if you care but the spirit man knows that You Lord have not left me. Strengthen me during this time of wait. Remind me of Your goodness and love. I rest in You. Amen
