Prayer of faith
Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. 2 Corinthians 3:5
In God alone we find the know-how necessary for the journey ahead, because God alone gives life and the resurrection living inside of us gives extraordinary power. To access this power, we must make time to commune with God. God’s word tells us that effectual, fervent prayer is the greatest weapon for the believer. There are so many examples that point to the importance of prayer. When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them something, they asked Him to teach them how to pray. Elijah prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and we know what happened after that. God shut up the clouds for over three years. This speaks of the power we all have access to and the instrument by which we can work wonders when we pray.
Prayer is the believer’s greatest weapon. When we pray, we are not just letting our thoughts loose; we are turning them over to the One who is in control of all things. When you pray, your mind is at ease knowing God’s got your back. The worst thing you could make your prayer life into is by seeing it as a sense of duty. If prayer is a duty for you, you have missed out on the most important aspect of prayer and that is the power you receive from on High when you pray. The most important thing you can do on this journey is to pray.
Prayer for today: Lord, draw my heart back to You in prayer. Keep me from seeing it as a task, and help me experience it as a lifeline. Teach me to come to You with honesty and trust, knowing that You hear me and care for me. Fill me with Your strength and peace as I seek You daily. Amen.
