Out of Focus
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You. Isaiah 26:3
Anyone who has ever tried to take a photo knows how frustrating it is when the lens is out of focus. The subject is still there, the lighting might be right, but everything looks blurry. You can shake the camera, change locations, or blame the lighting but until the lens is adjusted, the picture won’t be clear.
Our hearts work the same way.
When our focus drifts from God, peace blurs. Nothing may be wrong on the outside, yet everything feels unsettled on the inside. We grow anxious, distracted, and overwhelmed not because God has moved, but because our focus has.
In 2026 I encourage you to take the Word of God with you every day. Isaiah 26:3 is a perfect place to start. The Word of God here shows us the connection: perfect peace is tied to a steadfast mind. God keeps us in peace when our thoughts are fixed on Him. When we look everywhere else our problems, deadlines, fears, or “what ifs” we begin to live in pieces instead of peace.
God doesn’t promise to remove every pressure, but He does promise to hold us together. When we refocus our minds on His faithfulness, His sovereignty, and His nearness, He brings clarity to our hearts. Peace returns not because life suddenly makes sense, but because our lens is once again aligned with truth.
Prayer for today: Lord, refocus my heart on You. Adjust my thoughts when they drift and steady my mind in truth. Thank You for keeping me in perfect peace—not fragmented, but whole—as I trust in You. Amen.
