Our Enemy, Part II
Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.” Number 20:12
There is a battle going on. The scripture tells us that our adversary, the devil, is on the prowl seeking for someone to devour. Numbers 20:1-13, gives us the account of Moses doing what he thought was right, instead of following the instructions from God. Moses gave into the flesh and hit the rock instead of leaning on the spirit, depending on God and speaking to the rock.
In order to defeat the devil we must understand that he too knows our weakness. Remember daily the devil is on the prowl. That means he studies us and knows just when to step in. We see this in Numbers 20.
Moses was facing a deficit. The people are complaining. There is a great need – Moses there is no water. This leads to quarrels and murmuring. So they are fighting with each other and they don’t have patience but they don’t have patience because there is no water. Therein lies the void. Therein lies the opportunity for the enemy to step in and attempt an attack.
This is a reminder to us all. When facing challenging times we are most vulnerable. Again, we must remember the enemy is on the prowl. He finds us when we are weak, when life is not going our way and begins to whisper lies. In these moments of great weakness he tells us we aren’t good enough or that we will never be enough.
Today I am encouraging you not to give in. Kingdom work is supernatural work, no matter what your calling is. It requires a desperate dependence on God to be with you in order to succeed. This is the truth that Moses forgot as he listened to the lies of the enemy.
So what are you trusting in today my friend the rod or the rock because 1 Corinthians 10:11 “These things happen to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age.” Plainly speaking this happened as an example for us that the Israelites who wandered in the wilderness for an example to us today. We must rely on God. Trust in His plan completely. Today, make the decision to walk with Him always for God will never let you down.
