Obedience Opens the Door to Blessing
Now it was told King David, saying, “The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.” So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness. 2 Samuel 6:12
David desired to bring the Ark back to Jerusalem, but initially, he tried to move it in a way that was not aligned with God’s instructions. His intentions were good, but God desired obedience, not just enthusiasm.
Sometimes we want God’s promises while resisting His process. Yet obedience is what positions us to walk safely and fully in His will. John 14:15 reminds us, “if you love Me, keep My commandments.” God’s instructions are never meant to harm us; they are designed to protect and guide us.
Obedience requires trust. Even when we do not fully understand God’s timing or direction, we can trust His heart toward us.
Prayer for today: Loving Father, help me not only to desire Your blessings but to walk in obedience to Your Word. God, You have left us with Your word to read, and in it we find the instructions for life. I pray that I’ll read it with understanding to know Your ways. Give me the courage to trust Your ways above my own understanding. Amen.
