Not Forgotten
Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you. 1 Timothy 4:16
Our spiritual journey often mirrors the exhilarating experience of riding a roller-coaster. One moment we find ourselves soaring high, and the next we are plummeting down, only to round a corner and face a new twist. As we navigate the unpredictable path ahead, filled with unforeseen obstacles, sharp turns, and uphill battles, we are reminded of our limited ability to foresee the future. In light of this, Paul, in his guidance to his spiritual son Timothy, emphasized the significance of maintaining a focused vision and remaining vigilant against peripheral threats. Paul desired to equip Timothy not only for everyday decisions but also for his ministry, emphasizing the need to stay attuned to the right priorities and aware of potential dangers lurking on the periphery (read 2 Timothy 2).
God’s Word says, “And it was necessary for Jesus to be like us, his brothers, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God, a Priest who would be both merciful to us and faithful to God … For since He himself has now been through suffering … He knows what it is like when we suffer … and He is wonderfully able to help us” (Hebrews 2:17-18). Whatever we endure, His care is certain, His love is unfailing, and His promises are secure.
While the enemy’s attacks often come aggressively, he also specializes in catching us unaware. We can’t live in fear—to do so is to pull over on the road of life and refuse to move forward. But we can find the fulfillment that God’s Word promises when we travel in the direction of His leading, remaining aware of the spiritual realm in which we live. We can live by faith, trusting in God and leaning on His understanding.
Prayer for today: Father, we are to keep our focus on You so that we live our lives faithfully. Help me to be strong for You. Amen.
