Not Enough
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9
Do you feel like you’re not enough? Do you ever struggle with feeling like maybe God should have picked someone else to fulfill your roles? Do you feel not good enough to complete a task, not pretty enough, smart enough, successful enough? Just an overall feeling of being a failure? If we went by the world’s definition of who we are supposed to be then each and every time we will come up as not being enough. But, if we understand the words written in the book of Psalm we will see that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.
I think we get ourselves in trouble when we believe that our worth is based on what others say about us and forget what God says. Do you worry about what others say about you? You know the story. Some of us may have grown up in a home where we got a lot of encouragement and we felt good about ourselves. Others here may have grown up hearing: You’re stupid and you believed it. Or you’re no good and you believed it. Or you’re pathetic. On and on it goes. And, you heard that so often that you started thinking, you know what, and maybe I am not that good.
But I encourage you today to allow God’s truth to renew your mind. We need to remember that we get our worth and value from what God says about us!
We are not who others say we are, and we are not the sum total of our past experiences. We are who God says we are—this is where we are to find our worth and our value! We get our worth and value from what God says about us! So, whenever the lie comes up – I’m not good enough. I’m inadequate –we have to replace it with truth. The Bible says in 1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”
