Moving Forward
Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14
This week, we focused on the words written in Philippians 3 and I pray it has been a blessing for you to rediscover your drive to keep moving or push ahead. The goal this week was to challenge you to keep moving forward. Success in life requires a growth mindset. It demands approaching resistance as an opportunity rather than an obstacle. Through trying times we learn it’s only when you stretch beyond what you thought was possible that you discover strength you never knew and begin to live in the impossible which our God has promised to us.
In order to press on you must remember that you are a part of a team. The believer’s life is also like a soccer or basketball game because there is a team to play on. No match can be won by one person alone. It’s about teamwork. It doesn’t matter if it’s Kyrie, Alex, Ronaldo, LeBron, Steph Curry or whoever; if it was just them on their own they would never win. Even the best of the best need other players. The Bible says that when we put our faith in Jesus, we become part of a team. The Bible uses a different way of saying that. It says we are all part of the body of Christ.
As a team player you must show up for training. Any winning team must train hard. No match will be won, if the players are not first trained. God’s Word says iron sharpens iron, do not forsake the fellowship because there is something to gain when we join together as a team.
Be encouraged and press on. Do not say this is the end. Do not stay in a place of barrenness. If you stay there, then you will never lay hold of what God has in store for you on the other side.
