Monday Morning Manna
I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High. Psalm 9:1, 2
Hold On to the Promise Keeper (God) and not just the promises, this was the reminder from Sis. Iyzaro Davidson. Here in the United States we are in a season of giving thanks. But, this year many have found it difficult to give thanks in all things because not all things are worth giving thanks. Yet we were reminded yesterday during these challenging times to hold on to not just the promises but the promise keeper (God). Let us continue to hold on even when it seems as if the promises are not happening or when they seem impossible. Don’t just hold onto the promise that God says he will deliver to you but hold onto the Promise Keeper which is God.
During these challenging times as we continue to live with all things COVID related, it is vital to the spirit man to hold onto God. The word of God is filled with stories and people who held onto not just the promise but the promise keeper (God). The children of Israel were slaves for 430 years before they received the promise of freedom from the Egyptians (Exodus 12:40-41). Sis. Davidson reminded us that we have only been living with COVID for over seven months and we must remain on the firing line. Similar to the Children of Israel, we too have become weary awaiting the promise of an end. The waiting is never easy but it is necessary for growth.
A promise only has real value if it holds hands with commitment, faithfulness and perseverance. There is only one person who can make, commit to and keep such a promise and it is God. God makes promises. God is a promise keeper. God’s promises never change because God never changes. Our circumstances might change, but our God is unshakeable. God is faithful to keep His promises. God is trustworthy. God will do what He says He will do. And that, is something we can confidently rely on forever!
