Monday Morning Manna
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. Psalm 139:14
The age old question, “Who am I?” continues to be a part of our conversation even today. Yesterday Rev. Dr. Orville Harris gave us part II of his sermon series. Speaking from Psalms 139:14-17, Dr. Harris sermon – He who made us, has a plan to bless us. The sermon aimed to encourage us back to God. God is calling us back to an abundant life, through His Son Jesus Christ, He wants us to conform to the image of Christ his only begotten. It is encouraging to know that God knows you and loves you. God knows you better than you or I will even know ourselves! For God knows us in the subconscious, the unexplorable part of my life, as well as in the conscious. What a wonderful revelation this is of God’s understanding of each individual human being.
In Psalms 139 King David King declares that God knows everything (vs. 1-6), that God is everywhere (vs. 7-12), that God can do anything (vs. 13-18) and that God will deal with everyone (vs. 19-24). God is the great manufacturer. David knew, as we must know, that wrong ideas about God will inevitably lead to wrong ideas about who we are. Such wrong thinking can tragically lead to wrong decisions, leading to the wrong path, resulting in the wrong destiny and eventually find ourselves living life with a void looking for something to fill it. That something is and always has been God.
We are perfectly made by a perfect God. We are made in the image and likeness of God. He is the potter and we are the clay. God is calling us back to His image and His likeness. When God created you, He made you perfect. You are without blemish, spot, or stain in His eyes. While we may see ourselves as imperfect and want to fix ourselves, God sees you as being beautiful. Dr. Harris reminded us that we were made intentional and are predestined according to Gods plans for our future. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11. Let us go back to the Potter so that He forms us into the clay that He desires for our lives.
God wants to bless us but, before He can we must return to Him with a repenting and sorrowful heart saying, “Lord, I am sorry for not trusting you.”
