Monday Morning Manna
Now it was told King David, saying, “The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.” So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness. 2 Samuel 6:12
Yesterday we heard from Minister Nigel Thomas, speaking from 2 Samuel 6, his message titled ‘Total Man Gives Total Worship’. Many think of man as being the physical being only. However there is a greater being at work within man which calls for a greater work of man. Minister Thomas opened with reminding us of the internal self-awareness and the external self-awareness brings about a knowledge of who God is. Both images depict how we perceive life and make decisions. In this message, Minister Thomas taught us, our weakness is in the flesh but our strength is within the Spirit. In order for the total man to give a total (body, soul, and spirit) worship unto God, he must be aware of the total man at work within him. Here are the three points that was shared in yesterday’s message:
– Man must have self-awareness – physical and spiritual awareness
– From that: we should come to the wisdom that our weakness is in our flesh but our strength is in the Spirit of GOD.
– That wisdom: should cause us to give Total Worship/Davidic kind of worship to GOD who reigns in us.
We must be totally aware of God in our lives. How can we give total worship if we aren’t totally aware of Gods Spirit in our lives? The spirit gives us strength to produce good fruit bearing witness to the vine in which we are connected to. Minister Thomas encouraged us to become spiritually aware so that we can understand what is leading us in the spirit. 2 Samuel 6:14 tells us, ‘David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod.’ Here we find the King of Israel, a strong man, a well-known man, so filled with the presence of the Lord, consumed with the move of God, that he David did not hold back. David did not consider his garment, his title or his wife that was looking on with disgust, no! David danced in the Spirit before God, totally thankful for His presence.
David was self-aware. David knew the Ark represented the presence of God. David’s total worship is a challenge for us all. Considering the following, we should take an inventory of the things that are preventing us from giving God total worship – lack of spiritual awareness, lack of physical awareness, considering the physical things in our lives and not spiritually minded. Forget about the world and give it all over to God. The world will not understand your praise if they do not know your God. In doing so we ask ourselves the question, am I totally giving our all over to God in worship or do I hold a portion back considering what others will say?
