Monday Morning Manna
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 15:58
Even in the midst of a raging storm, God is calling on us to remain firm in Him. This is the message that was shared with us in yesterday’s Zoom service by Rev. Dr. Orville Harris. His sermon asked the question – Will Your Anchor Hold? Dr. Harris sermon aimed to encourage us to hold onto our position in God never doubting or leaving or never stop believing. Dr. Harris encourages us to trust in the wisdom of God not in yourself or whatever you may think. Reminding us that just as an anchor holds a ship firmly to one place when winds and currents would otherwise remove it, so God has given us certain gems, His truths, which are intended to hold our minds fast to the truth of God’s Word and to Himself. Regardless of the storm that tosses your life and mine, if we remain confident in the Lord, then we will remain steady in the storm. Will your anchor hold?
An anchor is used to keep the boat from distress when the water or wind blows. We too require an anchor to hold us so that we may abide in peace, and find rest for our souls. What an encouragement it is to know that we will never face an instant of life on our own. Every step, every valley, in every storm if our anchor is in the Lord we will be graced by His presence!
“Therefore let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise that He has promised us—eternal life. These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming. If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.”I John 2:24-29 NKJV
Dr. Harris encouraged us to hold our position using the wisdom of God to remain firm in the faith. Stay strong with the anchor of the Lord. God is able to work it all out! He will get you through your storm and keep you safe. Today it may look like the boat is going to sink but, heed the words written in Psalm 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil….” Today it may look like the storms of life are going to prevail. The waves are coming in, in fact they might be so strong it goes over your head just keep trusting in God. In these moments don’t move and have confidence in God. Stay put and don’t move! For when the waves have all settled down, when the winds return to normal, when the rain is no more and the clouds have rolled away, you will see that God was in control all along! I can promise you this, no storm in this life will be able to blow you off the course God has determined for your life!
