Meditate on God’s Word
O how I love thy law! It is my meditation all the day. Psalm 119:97
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the word meditate means to focus one’s thoughts on: reflect on or ponder over. God instructs the believer to focus, reflect, ponder, and memorize His law so that we can grow into a relationship with Him.
To know the Lord doesn’t just happen. Faith isn’t simply something we declare and move on. Knowing God requires that we nurture a relationship with Him–a relationship that entails two-way communication, listening, sharing, trusting, and growing together. Just like any earthly relationship we pursue it requires time and commitment.
The believer’s walk is a relationship. And the way to grow in this relationship is to get to know Him. So what exactly does “knowing” God and Jesus look like in everyday life? It all starts with the words written in Psalm 119:97 ‘O how I love thy law! It is my meditation all the day.’ Find some time today to meditate and speak with God.
