Loving Even When It Hurts
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart.1 Peter 1:22
Loving God is vertical love. Loving others is horizontal love. Together, they form the full shape of the believer’s love – The Cross itself. Jesus showed us how these two loves are inseparable: love for God fuels love for others, and love for others proves the love for God.
Love is the foundation of all kindness. It’s not always a feeling; sometimes it’s a choice. John 13:34 says “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” Jesus loved us at our worst, and He calls us to love others with that same selfless, relentless grace. Love covers, heals, and restores. It’s the reason behind every rewind.
Prayer for today: Jesus, thank You for loving me unconditionally. Teach me to love others with Your kind of love—not based on what they’ve done, but based on who You are. Let my life be rooted in Your love. Amen.
