Love that last
But now, this is what the LORD says– he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. Isaiah 43:1
Think back to your first Valentine’s Day. Did you receive a box of chocolate or was it heart shaped fruits? There is nothing greater than a bag of those little candy hearts that have the words printed on them? They say cute little things like “SWEET”, “CUTE” or “HUG ME”. But the one that I like the best says, “YOU ARE MINE!” reminds me that I am His, I belong to God. Now think back to your first love and when you first came to know Jesus. Is your life radiating that love you had at the beginning? If not Jesus is calling you to return to that first love.
Isaiah 43 gives a beautiful picture of God saying those exact words to His beloved children of Israel – you are MINE. Even though they had wandered away from Him turning to false gods and He had to discipline them, He declares, “Don’t not fear, for I have redeemed you….you are mine” Then, as their loving Father, He gives them the promise of His presence, His protection, and His provision through it all.
This weekend no matter what happens, know that you are loved. As a loving Father cares for His children, so He cares for you day after day, week after week, year after year. He loves you! You are His!
Prayer for today: Father, what a thrill to hear Your words and to know that I belong to You! Thank You for creating me, for caring for me, for calling me Your. Amen
