Live Life in Abundance
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. James 5:16
It is interesting when we are not feeling well how quick we seek the help of a physician. In these moments we are willing to do whatever it takes to deal with whatever is going on in our body, even if the process is painful or uncomfortable at times. Why? Because we trust the physicians and we know that it will be all worth it in the end. So why not take the same approach when it comes to dealing with your spiritual health? Do we feel the same way about sin? Sin has become such a familiar word there’s a risk of us not taking it seriously. I wonder if a doctor had said to ‘I’m sorry but you have sin’, if we would have sought spiritual medical attention as fast, or if we would have felt embarrassed about confessing our sins to someone. Are you mature enough to admit when you are wrong and seek help to make it right? We must remember that sin separates us from all God wants for our lives. It prevents us from having life – life in all its fullness.
Today I invite you to turn to God. I challenge you to spend time in His presence confessing all that is weighing you down and receive His forgiveness. Sin is a ‘spiritual disease’. Just as the medical treatment often comes with a bit of a challenge, facing our sin can look just as challenging, but maybe less of an immediate threat to our life.
Why would we wait to get treatment though when the remedy is there and everything has been done for us to walk into forgiveness? It might feel a bit painful to look at the reality of the state of our hearts, and it might feel uncomfortable to ‘confess to each other’, but the joy of healing and the ‘wonderful results’ that come from it make it so worthwhile. We get closer to God, and live life – life in abundance.
Prayer for today: Heavenly Father, thank You that, in Jesus, I am already forgiven. His willingness to die on the cross for me, the price was paid for all my sin. Sometimes I do not get it right. In fact, often give into the flesh and miss the mark. Help me run to You for forgiveness and healing and to know the fullness of life You have for me. Amen.
