Just As I Am

Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

“Just As I Am” is a hymn that speaks to the unconditional love and acceptance of God. Sometimes we believe we need to become better before God will accept us. We may think, “Once I get my life together, then I can come to God.” But that is not the invitation Jesus gives. He says, “Come to me.” Jesus doesn’t ask us to come when we have everything figured out. He invites us to come when we are weary, broken, confused, guilty, or afraid. We come just as we are, trusting that His grace is enough. This hymn reminds us that we don’t have to clean ourselves up or be perfect to come to God; He accepts us as we are.
